THE RIDE AWAY GAME
The Ride Away game is only available on the Flash version of this site but is designed to teach you that being streetwise is about being smart, not wearing the coolest trainers!
THE GET KITTED UP GAME
The Get Kitted Up game is only available on the Flash version of this site but is designed to teach you all about wearing protective items before cycling:
- Wear a safety helmet - Your helmet is your most important piece of kit. It will help to protect your head if you fall off your bike! You should never ride without it - even the top cyclists wear them and they come in loads of cool designs!
- Bright clothes - Brightly coloured clothes are cool and will help others to see you.
- Reflective Material - Reflective material will light up at night making you even more visible! Be safe, be seen!
- Wear Knee Pads - Nobody wants a grazed knee - so if you do take a tumble, these pads can help protect you! It's like having your own armour!
- Wear Elbow Pads - Just like your knees, elbows are easy to bump of you fall off your bike. Elbow pads are comfy to wear and could save you from a nasty graze!
- Wear Riding Gloves - We all put out our hands to stop ourselves falling. Wearing gloves will protect your hands from cuts or grazes - it's hard to ride your bike with sore hands! Also, in the winter, gloves will keep your hands warm - frozen fingers are bad for steering and braking!

I Didn't Use My Head!
Me and some friends were doing bike stunts at the end of our road. I was on a bike ramp and went over my handle bars. I wasn't wearing my cycle helmet.
My mum was home when it happened. My brother went to get her and told her to come outside and the first thing she saw was lots of blood all over me.
I was knocked out so I don't remember much about my ride in the ambulance. But my mum says they got me to the hospital and I started throwing up blood!
I had a crack in my skull - 2 inches long! The doctors were worried that I had broken my neck as well. I was really lucky to be OK. Now my mum wants to tell everybody why I always wear a cycle helmet when I'm riding my bike.
